TRICARE Breast Pump Policy Town Hall – UPDATE

Many TRICARE beneficiaries were understandably excited when the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) expanded TRICARE coverage of breast pumps, associated supplies and breastfeeding counseling to all female TRICARE beneficiaries in December 2014.  You’ve had many questions since news of the change first broke, and once the policy became public, you had even more questions. So, TRICARE hosted a town hall on June 22, 2015 to answer your policy questions.

During the town hall, many of you asked specific questions with lots of details that we couldn’t answer at the time. While our aim is always to provide you with answers to your benefit questions, we were unable to answer some of your questions until the TRICARE regional contractors began implementing the policy.  As of July 1, the contractors began processing claims. They are prepared to answer these types of questions.

If you have not purchased your pump, please contact your regional contractor for more information. If you have already purchased your pump, you will need to file a claim for reimbursement with your contractor. This coverage is retroactive to December 19, 2014.
